First Triathlon Post!

Here is my new blog. This will be devoted to rediscovering my sense of adventure, increasing my activity levels, dealing with my asthma and generally not being afraid of a challenge.

Just a few weeks ago, I completed the incredible Nightrider event – a 100km cycle ride around the streets of London, through the night. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my whole life, and I am still feeling proud that I managed to finish it.

It took me just short of 8 hours (including 4 break stops, walking up a couple of big hills and a LOT of stopping for traffic lights) and during this time, I had a good old think about where my life is heading and how I am going to make the most of it.

I’d entered a triathlon prior to signing up for Nightrider, but I was doubting my abilities and commitment and worrying I’d bitten off a bit more than I could chew.

Over the last couple of weeks, determined not to waste the miles in my legs that Nightrider gave me, I’ve got stuck into some training and have been amazed at how much I have achieved in a short space of time, and more than that, how much I am enjoying myself.

Needless to say, I am now really excited about the triathlon and can’t wait for race day!

I’ll be using this blog to record my progress and share my thoughts as I go. I’m being inspired by a daily basis by people who are undertaking challenges of their own, and will share these too.

I’m also exploring the issue of increasing my fitness while managing my asthma and will aim to post my findings here.
