mouillé jusqu’aux os

Le Tour may be just a memory already, but I’ve just had a timely reminder of my favourite French expression – mouillé jusqu’aux os – literally translated as soaked to the bones.

It was only raining lightly when we went out for our evening walk. By the end of the road it was raining cats, dogs, squirrels, hedgehogs … you get the picture.

My house now looks like the inside of a carwash. Two soggy greyhounds are now drying on the sofa. Wendy looks thoroughly unimpressed, and has a bit of a frizz on.

Sometimes I guess it’s not worth risking it after all! Still, I have a huge smile on my face.
